By Our Staff Reporter
NELLORE, APRIL 25. The stage is set for Monday's crucial polling to elect representatives in 11 Assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha constituency of Nellore district. Around 99 candidates belonging to various political parties are in fray, whose fate would be decided by an estimated 17,38,242 voters. The district administration has made extensive arrangements for conduct of peaceful and fair poll, keeping in view voters belonging to weaker sections of society. An awareness campaign has been launched about the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and training imparted to polling personnel. Apart from deployment of regular police personnel, nine companies of paramilitary forces comprising of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), have been pressed into service turning the entire district into a security fortress. All the entry and exit points to nearby districts have been sealed and vigil has been stepped up following the arrest of four naxalites in the heart of Nellore town last week. Police also continue to crack down on trouble makers besides seizing arrack stocks in some parts of the district.
