Hamilton defeats Swail

SHEFFIELD, APRIL 25. Anthony Hamilton of England defeated Joe Swail 13-11 in the Embassy World snooker championship at the Crucible on Saturday.

Swail's early momentum deserted him at the vital moment as Hamilton rallied to win. Swail had made a break of over 50 in every frame he won entering the final session, but Hamilton neverlet him out of his reach.

Hamilton went ahead for the first time with a 54 break in the opening frame of the evening as Swail's earlier fluency deserted him.

Hamilton's assured play meant there was no likelihood of a Swail fightback.
