ADILABAD, APRIL 25. Normal life was disrupted on Saturday night due to hailstorm accompanied by gales which struck the eastern parts of Adilabad district. The storm disrupted life in Mancherial, Jaipur, Mandamarri and Bellampalli in Mancherial sub-division, Tandur in Asifabad sub-division and Kadam mandal in Nirmal sub-division. These areas went without power on Saturday night. Power was being restored on war footing. Around 8 p.m. strong winds accompanied by hailstorm struck these mandals uprooting trees, electric poles and corrugated roofing on hundreds of houses. Death of cattle was also reported from Kadam. While official assessment of the damages was awaited, reports reaching here said mango and paddy crop was affected in the mandals of Mancherial, Mandamarri and Bellampalli. At Mandamarri, power failed following the uprooting of electric supply poles. Similarly, at Bellampalli a tower at the 132 KV sub-station was uprooted by strong winds.
