`People impressed by NDA's performance'

By Our Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE, APRIL 25. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Mangalore Lok Sabha seat, D.V. Sadananda Gowda, today expressed confidence that he would win the seat by a comfortable margin.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Sadananda Gowda said that he had received good response from voters in the constituency during his campaign. They were impressed by the performance of the BJP-led NDA government under the leadership of A.B. Vajpayee.

He said the people also wanted to have a similar government in the State this time. They were aware of the "failures" of the Congress government in the State.

He said the State Government had failed to supply adequate electricity to industries and irrigation pumpsets of farmers. It had not evolved a system to stabilise prices of farm produce, and areca nut and coffee. This had affected the growers in the constituency, he added.

Mr. Sadananda Gowda said that he had led several movements and was instrumental in getting the market intervention scheme for areca growers.
