IUML leaders to campaign for UDF

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 25. The Indian Union Muslim League leaders, Panakkad Mohammedali Shihab Thangal, P.K.Kunhalikutty, and Abdul Samad Samadani, would campaign for the UDF candidate for Thiruvananthapuram and Chirayinkeezh, V.S. Sivakumar, and M.I. Shanavas, on Wednesday. These leaders would address public meetings at Vettimuricha Kotta at 5 p.m. and Kacheri Junction in Nedumangad at 6.30 p.m., the district general secretary of the Indian Union Muslim League, Bheemapally Rasheed, said in a release here today.

50 held in district

The police today rounded up 50 persons including gangsters from different parts of the district following the combing operations conducted by the Rural SP, Balram Kumar Upadhyay as part of the Lok Sabha elections.

Campaign programme

The Finance Minister, K. Sankaranarayanan, would address public meetings at Pazhayakada in Parassala at 5 p.m. and Vellarada at 6 p.m. on Monday as part of the election campaigning of the UDF candidate for Thiruvananthapuram, V.S.Sivakumar, UDF central election committee has informed. Mr. Sivakumar would campaign in different parts of Parassala on Monday.

Inauguration of Vigyan Rail

The Kerala University Vice-Chancellor, B.Ekbal, would inaugurate the science exhibition on wheels, `Vigyan Rail' at the Central Railway Station at 11.30 a.m. on Monday. The exhibition will be opened to the public between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. till April 30. The entrance to the exhibition is free, a Southern Railway release said.

Painting camp

The Chitrakalamandalam is organising a free painting camp for school and college students at the Anantha Padmanabha Nilayam Auditorium on all Saturdays and Sundays. Painting materials would be provided free of cost to the participants. Details can be had from 2471311 and 2465942, a Chitrakalamandalam release said.
