KOCHI, APRIL 25. The President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, returned to Delhi this afternoon after attending the functions held in connection with the completion of the world cruise by the INS Tarangini at the Southern Naval Command here. The Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft, Boeing 737-200, carrying the President took off from the airstrip at INS Garuda at 3 p.m. He was seen off by the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Madhvendra Singh, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Naval Command, Vice-Admiral Yashwant Prasad, and the Commanding Officer of INS Garuda, Capt. R.S. Kalia. Earlier, the President visited the Naval hospital, INHS Sanjivini, where he was received by its Commanding Officer, Surgeon Captain Alok Banerjee. Mr. Kalam distributed sweets to the patients in the surgical and paediatric wards. He also visited the intensive care unit (ICU) and the neonatal ward. Before signing the visitor's book, Mr. Kalam exchanged mementoes with the Commanding Officer of INHS Sanjivini. He then had lunch at the Zamorin's Suite at the Naval Base with top Naval officers and foreign diplomats who had attended the function.
