Antony's tour in district

KOCHI, APRIL 25. The Navothana Yatra being led by the Chief Minster, A. K. Antony, is to tour the district from tomorrow. The Yatra would be received at the district boundary, Moothakunnam, by the DCC president, K. P. Dhanapalan, at 2.30 p.m. Mr. Antony will address a series of public meetings in the district. He will also address a few public meetings in the city on April 27, said a statement issued by Mr. Dhanapalan.

SFI candidates win

The SFI candidates won the two seats of student representatives of the academic council of the Cochin University of Science and Technology(Cusat), according to a statement issued by the SFI Cusat unit committee. The elected representatives are V. P. Dinesh Kumar of the Research section and Prasanth C. John of the PG\UG section. The SFI unit committee greeted the students who elected its nominees to the council.

Endocrine surgery at AIMS

The Department of General Surgery of the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences(AIMS) has launched an endocrine surgery division, which will take care of most endocrinal surgical problems, especially diseases related to thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, pancreas and breast. State-of-the-art surgical procedures are available for the treatment of thyroid diseases like goitre, hyperthyroidism and cancer at the division, said a statement issued by the Institute authorities.

The following were elected as district office-bearers of the Kerala Panchayat Employees Organisation: V. A. Ramachandran (president), V. G. Sasidharan and P. K. Narayanan (vice-presidents) Dennis Coraya (secretary), J. Justin, K. M. Salim and A. J. Agasthy (joint secretaries) and K. V. Subramaniyan (treasurer).
