Reinbazar Inspector suspended
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
APRIL 25.
The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, R.P. Singh, on Sunday suspended the Reinbazar police station Inspector, Gunashekhar, in connection with the clash between the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) and the Bharatiya Janata Party workers at Waheed Colony on the day of the first phase polls on April 20.
The South Zone DCP, H.K. Guptha, said the Inspector was suspended for failing to take proper action when BJP activists complained of heckling by their opponents, which subsequently resulted in the clash. Accusing the Reinbazar Inspector of ignoring their complaints, the BJP activists staged a demonstration in front of Madannapet police station that evening.
The police fired more than 10 rounds into the air when a group started hurling stones at the protestors. An inquiry was later ordered into the incident.
