BANGALORE, APRIL 26. The former Director of the Indian Space Research Organisation, U.R. Rao, on Sunday called upon the outgoing students of The International School-Bangalore (TISB) to return to India after higher studies and work for the country. In all, 61 students of 12th Standard passed out of the school. Many of them have been placed in international universities. "There are many opportunities here. Only if students like you come back and work for the development of the country will India rise socially and politically," Dr. Rao told the students. He said learning was a lifelong process which should be backed by dedication, hard work, and commitment. He recalled his days at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and quoted a saying put up at the research laboratory there which read: "In the past shoes used to stink, in the present shoes can blink, and in the future shoes will be able to think." Dr. Rao asked the students to question accepted dogmas and theories. "Try and seek interesting insights for all that may help you make your mark." The graduating class was awarded scholarships worth Rs. 2.7 crore by various universities.
