The police gave the names of those arrested as T. Shivakumar (37), editor of Kannu and resident of Basaveshwaranagar, Rajendra Prasad (28) of Nagarabavi Main Road, and Mohan Kumar (21) of Pattegarpalya.

The police said Shivakumar, Ravi, editor of Parivala, a Kannada weekly, and their associates allegedly took a woman to the house of H.S. Nagesh, an astrologer, at Sahakambarinagar on April 11. Later, the accused allegedly threatened Mr. Nagesh that the photographs would be published in newspapers and shown on television if he did not pay them Rs. 2 lakh, the police said.

After Mr. Nagesh filed a complaint in the Jayanagar police station on April 23, the accused were arrested and a car and two motorcycles seized from them. The police are on the lookout for the other accused.
