Letters to the Editor
Sir, In the first two phases of elections, voter turnout has been below 60 per cent. This is a matter of great concern. Voting is the duty of every citizen. While in the urban areas people are indifferent to the elections, in the rural areas people are pre-occupied with earning a living. Sixty per cent of the electorate alone cannot make a good choice. Necessary steps should be taken to inform the people about the importance of their vote.
Md. Mudassir Alam,
* * * Sir, It is disheartening and shameful that so many names were missing from the voters list. The President of India has appealed to all citizens to exercise their franchise and called voting a sacred duty. But when so many names have disappeared from the list, how can his appeal be honoured?
A.P.V.S. Naga Mohan,
