Two power units in State among five best

HYDERABAD,

. Five power stations belonging to the National Thermal Power Corporation namely Rihand (1,000 MW), Singrauli (2,000), Korba (21,00), Ramagundam (2,100) and Simhadri (1,000), the last two in Andhra Pradesh, have emerged as the "best performing stations" in the country for 2003-04 as per the evaluation made by the Central Electricity Authority.
The plant load factor (PLF) recorded by the NTPC plants for the year came to 84.4 per cent, compared to 80.4 per cent of the private sector plants, 78.7 per cent of the Central sector and 68.4 per cent of the State electricity boards. The all-India average was 72.7 per cent.
According to an NTPC press note issued here today, Ramagundam Super Thermal Power Station which is the mainstay for the southern grid, generated 16,331.78 million units for the year.
