ANANTAPUR, APRIL 27. Based on the complaint lodged by S. Gangadhar, the Congress polling agent at Nagasamudram village in the Penukonda constituency, who was allegedly shot at by TDP leaders led by the candidate, Paritala Ravindra, during the polling yesterday, the two-town police here registered a case against Mr. Ravindra, his followers D. Chaman, T. Prabhakar and others. According to the police sources, the case was registered under Sections 147, 148, 324, 325, 307 and 365 of the IPC read with Section 149 of IPC, Section 3(i), 10 of SC, STs Prevention of Atrocities Act, and Section 27(i) of the Arms Act. The case was later transferred to Chennekothapalli police station as the incident occurred there. Police sources said they were gathering evidence on the charges of the complainant and would act upon it as soon as they got sufficient information during investigation. Mr. Ravindra, who was lodged at the Itikalapalli police station yesterday after he was taken into preventive custody, left the police station around 11.30 pm. He was released on personal surety around 7 p.m. but he refused to leave the station till they clarified on the Nagasamudram case. Meanwhile, Gangadhar was moved to the Kurnool General Hospital.
