HYDERABAD, APRIL 27. The voting percentage for the 21 Lok Sabha constituencies has finally been put at 71.83 which is 7.97 per cent higher than the yesterday's provisional figure -- 63.86 per cent. Amalapuram (SC) topped the list with 77.7 per cent closely followed by Eluru and Bapatla with 77.67 per cent and 77.04 per cent respectively. Kurnool accounted for the least voter participation at 62.11 per cent. The overall of 71.83 per cent "is very encouraging", stated election officials, comparing this with 69 per cent under the four phases in 1999 covering all the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the State and to 68 per cent under the first phase of the present elections covering the other half of the Parliamentary constituencies. Among the Assembly segments, Chintalapudi in the Eluru Lok Sabha constituency reported the highest percentage at 86.52 with men accounting for 89.13 per cent and women lagging behind with 83.95 per cent. The lowest in this category was by Vijayawada East at 46.3 per cent and this only indicated the downward trend of the voters patronage in urban areas.
