Herbalife's gesture

NEW DELHI APRIL 27. The SOS Children's Villages of India, a voluntary child-care organisation, received a donation of Rs. 15,00,000 from Herbalife International for its upcoming project in Mumbai at a function here today.

Speaking at the function, Pradeep Singh, National Director, SOS Children's Villages of India, said: "The donation will help the organisation to reach out to many more children in the country. I am glad that big organisations like Herbalife International are accepting social responsibility and supporting NGOs which are working for a noble cause."

Children from SOS Children's Village also presented a colourful cultural show for Herbalife International employees. The company has been supporting the NGO for the past five years.

NEW DELHI APRIL 27. The Union Labour Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for the Lok Sabha from Outer Delhi, Sahib Singh Verma, launched his website here today. The website aims to give viewers ready access to Mr. Verma's achievements, policies, programmes. It would also allow people to communicate directly with him. Any query or clarification would be replied to promptly. The website address is www.sahibsinghbjp.org.

New coaching institute

NEW DELHI APRIL 27. The Andhra Pradesh-headquartered Narayana group of educational institutes opened four coaching centres for Pre-Medical Test (PMT) and IIT (JEE) here recently. While the PMT coaching centres for Classes XI and XII are located at Janakpuri and South Extension, the IIT coaching centres are located at Kalu Sarai and West Punjabi Bagh.

Disclosing this information the Narayana's vice-chairman, Professor D.V. Rao, said: "We entered the Capital because citizens of different religion, caste and States stay and work here. As Delhi welcomes people with talent and hard work, the Narayana group decided to transfer its knowledge to the student community."

Focus on financial challenges

NEW DELHI APRIL 27.


The Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies (MAIMS), Rohini, held a seminar on "Indian Financial Sector-Challenges And Opportunities" here on Monday. The underlying purpose behind the seminar was to focus on the challenges facing the financial sector. Discussions on innovations in the banking and insurance sector and the need to adopt marketing strategies were held.

The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University's Vice Chancellor, Professor K.K. Aggarwal, was the chief guest. While the Chairman and Managing Director of Punjab National Bank, S.S. Kohli, presented the keynote address, the Chairman of Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society, Nand Kishore Garg, presided over the seminar.

Earth Day celebrated

NEW DELHI APRIL 27. Delhi Public School, Rohini, celebrated Earth Day by holding a special assembly here this past week. The senior school presented a choir "Bhav Bhini Vandana Teri Kare Hum Prabhu". A student of Class VI, Ria Jethi, recited a poem titled "Think Like A Tree". An interesting street play, "Yamuna Bazaar" was presented by the environment council's students.

In her speech, the DPS Rohini principal, Rita Sen, urged the students to become environment conscious and work for preservation of nature so as to make every day an Earth Day.
