Seek votes on performance, Ramadoss tells Jayalalithaa

By Our Staff Reporter

KARAIKUDI, APRIL 27. The Pattali Makkal Katchi leader, S. Ramadoss, today asked whether the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, was ready seek votes on the basis of her Government's three-year achievements rather than wearing the mask of the Prime Minister, A.B.Vajpayee.

Speaking to presspersons here, he said the AIADMK Government had banned fresh recruitment and the announcement of compulsory retirement has created panic among 4.5 lakh government employees.

``The Chief Minster is thinking that she could win the election with money and muscle power. But the people want to teach a lesson to her,'' he claimed.

Farmers of the Cauvery delta will not get a drop of water from Karnataka until Ms.Jayalalithaa continued as Chief Minister. Her stubborn attitude and the wrong approach towards the Karnataka Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, had resulted in non-release of water to Cauvery.

The PMK founder criticised the Finance Minister, C.Ponnaiyan, for giving wrong information on the growth rate of the economy in the State. During the budget session he said at the end of 10th Five Year plan (2002 - 2007) the growth rate would be 8 per cent. But now he was saying that the State could attain the 8 per cent growth rate within 2004-05.
