Gopinathan, has said that special ad hoc Lok Adalats attached to the District Courts would be organised to dispose of the Motor Accidents Claim Tribunal (MACT) cases in a time-bound manner. In a statement released through the District Information Office here, he said that more than 1.25 lakh claims were pending before the various MACTs in the State. For the early disposal of claims, victims maimed in motor accidents and the dependents of those killed in such accidents should submit their applications before the respective District Legal Service Authority. The application should contain the full name of the claimant, and other details like age, address, designation, income, time and date of the accident, name of the owner and driver involved in the accident, insurance policy number of the vehicle, name of the insurance company, details on the injuries, details on medical treatment and the expenses incurred for that and details of the police case registered. In the event of death, the dependents, who make the claim, should provide proper details on their relationship with the deceased. Applications in this instance should contain a copy of the FIR, the place of occurrence and a copy of the postmortem certificate.
