NDTV poll gives 20 seats to BJP in State

BANGALORE, APRIL 27. An exit poll conducted by NDTV on the second phase of the elections to the Lok Sabha held on Monday shows that the Bharatiya Janata Party is maintaining the same winning streak it displayed in the first phase of the elections held in Karnataka on April 20. The television channel released the results of the exit poll only with regard to the Lok Sabha elections.

The exit poll predicts that the BJP will win nine of the 13 Lok Sabha seats for which elections were held on Monday. The Congress will win three seats and the Janata Dal (Secular) one, according to the poll.

The NDTV exit poll for the two phases of the elections gives the BJP 20 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the State. The Congress gets six and the Janata Dal (S) two.

It is surmised that the former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda, will won both the Kanakapura and Hassan Lok Sabha seats.

However, two other television channels gave fewer seats to the BJP on the basis of their exit polls. Aaj Tak has said that the BJP will win 15 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the State while the Congress will win 11 seats and others two.

According to Zee TV, the BJP and its ally, Janata Dal (United), will win only nine seats, Congress 12, and others seven.
