Congress activist killed

ANANTAPUR, APRIL 27. One person was killed and four others injured, all belonging to the Congress party, in post-poll violence at Podaralla village in Bukkarayasamudram mandal late last night. The injured were admitted to the General Hospital here. According to the police, a TDP supporter allegedly attacked Congress supporters the village with hunting sickles and bombs. One of them, Nagabhushanam, succumbed to injuries in the hospital today.

The TDP men were allegedly led by the sarpanch, Srinivasulu, the MPTC member, Kanti, and four of their followers. Narasamma, Bhaskar, Balamma and Venkatesh were also injured in the attack. All the accused were at large. Meanwhile, the DCC president and Congress candidate for Anantapur parliamentary constituency, A. Venkatarami Reddy, submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police, Anil Kumar, and complained of partisan attitude of the local police.

Scribe attacked

TDP followers allegedly attacked the reporter of Vartha in Chennekothapalli mandal today while he was taking a photograph of the police taking away their colleagues after a clash between TDP and Congress followers. They also snatched his camera and broke it.
