Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, APRIL 27. A light shower is possible in some areas on Wednesday. The sky will be partly cloudy and the maximum temperature will be around 36 degrees Celsius.

On Tuesday, the maximum temperature at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam was 35.8 and 36.1 degrees Celsius respectively, while the minimum was 28 and 26.8 degrees Celsius. The humidity level stood at 63 and 60 per cent respectively.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended on Thursday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work in parts of T.V. Pet and Mannady.

Certificate course

A summer special certificate course on Non-Violence will be conducted by Gandhian Integrated Forum Trust from May 16 to 22 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. in association with Akhil Bharat Rachanatmak Samaj and Thakkar Bapa Vidyalaya. A 30-hour certificate course on computer awareness in Windows and MS Office will be conducted by the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre at the Periyar Science and Technology Centre, Gandhi Mandapam Road, Guindy. Eye camp

A free eye camp for the aged was organised by Rajan Eye Care and Centre for the Welfare of the Aged in Triplicane on Tuesday. More than 100 patients were screened and 33 of them were scheduled for free cataract surgery. Free medicines and spectacles were given to over 20 patients.

Workshop

A workshop on eco-friendly jute products will be organised by the Small Industries Service Institute from May 11 to 21 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The workshop is aimed at helping educated and unemployed youth towards self-employment. Blood donation

A blood donation camp was organised by the state chapter of the Indian Red Cross Society and Nethaji Social Organisation, Ponneri, on Saturday and Sunday. Over 80 persons donated blood.

Silver jubilee

Centre for Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, Madras School of Social Work, celebrated its silver jubilee on Saturday. The City Police Commissioner, R. Nataraj, spoke.
