WASHINGTON, APRIL 27. The Republican Senator from Texas, John Cornyn, and his Democratic colleague from New York, Hillary Rodham Clinton, will formally announce the creation of the first-ever Senate Caucus dedicated to relations between India and the United States. The event will be held on Thursday at Capitol Hill and will be followed by a reception at the Indian Embassy. The Senate India Caucus will bring together Republicans and Democrats with a view to strengthening relations between India and the U.S. and work towards "common goals," including in the realm of trade and security "in an age of global terror," a press release from Mr. Cornyn's office said. Mr. Cornyn and Ms. Clinton will co-chair the Caucus that will include the Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist, the Senate Minority Leader, Tom Daschle, and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, a Republican from Texas. There are 31 members in the Caucus.
