Hillary to co-chair Senate Caucus on India

WASHINGTON, APRIL 27. The Republican Senator from Texas, John Cornyn, and his Democratic colleague from New York, Hillary Rodham Clinton, will formally announce the creation of the first-ever Senate Caucus dedicated to relations between India and the United States. The event will be held on Thursday at Capitol Hill and will be followed by a reception at the Indian Embassy.

The Senate India Caucus will bring together Republicans and Democrats with a view to strengthening relations between India and the U.S. and work towards "common goals," including in the realm of trade and security "in an age of global terror," a press release from Mr. Cornyn's office said. Mr. Cornyn and Ms. Clinton will co-chair the Caucus that will include the Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist, the Senate Minority Leader, Tom Daschle, and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, a Republican from Texas. There are 31 members in the Caucus.
