HYDERABAD, APRIL 27. An action team member of the People's War, (PW) B. Kankaiah alias Satyam, who was allegedly involved in the killing of a police constable in Gajwel town, was arrested by the Medak police on Tuesday. A shot gun and some live ammunition hidden by the arrested naxalite was also recovered at his instance. Police said Kankaiah, a resident of Venkatraopet village of Thoguta mandal had joined the PW six months ago and he was enlisted as a member of the action team, in which Sagar and Ilaiah were the members. He was supplied with a shot gun and ammunition and was ordered to stay put in his village and later the other two action team members met him and planned an attack on a Telugu Desam party leader in Gajwel town. However, the team could not attack him, but shot dead his gunman and fled after snatching the carbine. Later Kankaiah, reports said, was asked to take shelter in Nizamabad for some time. The other two action members were later killed in exchange of fire with the police in Warangal and Medak in separate incidents. On Tuesday, Kankaiah came to Kothapally village to collect the hidden weapon before carrying out another attack on a target. The police who got information about his movement, zeroed in on him and arrested him.
