Woman robbed of jewellery

A motorcycle-borne youngster took away gold ornaments weighing 12 tolas and Rs. 2,000 cash from a woman, Nasreen, of Vijayanagar Colony by diverting her attention on Tuesday morning when she came to the local Andhra Bank to deposit jewellery, the Langerhouse police said.

Held for using fake credit card

The Panjagutta police on Tuesday took into custody a person who allegedly purchased gold ornaments from Mussaddilal jewellery shop by using a fake credit card.

Dies in road mishap

A fruit vendor, B. Bhaskar (22), who was coming to the city in an auto-rickshaw, was killed on Tuesday after a lorry going from Hyderabad to Warangal hit the three-wheeler on the outskirts of Uppal, the Uppal police said.

Fatally run over

A contract worker of the MCH, Kamalamma (40), died on the spot on Tuesday after a van fatally knocked her down while she was crossing the road near Mahboob Mansion in Chaderghat police station area.

Attempts suicide?

A telephone operator working in the NTR Trust building, Satyam Goud, reportedly attempted suicide by consuming poison in the building's dormitory late on Monday night. Sources said that an office employee saw Satyam lying in an unconscious state and rushed him to the NIMS. When contacted, the Banjara Hills ACP, P. Chandramouli, denied reports stating that the police had not received any intimation in this regard from NIMS authorities.

Man held, cars recovered

Sleuths of the Central Crime Station (CCS) on Monday arrested a car driver, G Nagaraju, of Banjara Hills, who was allegedly responsible for vehicle thefts and recovered four cars at his instance. He was nabbed at the Jubilee bus station by the Automobile team of CCS led by Sub-Inspector, B. Yadagiri, and a police party of the Marredpally police station.
