Directory of journalists planned

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, APRIL 27. Karnataka has its share of those writing on development issues.

A need for compiling a ready-reckoner on development journalists in the State to help non-governmental organisations (NGOs) network with such persons and pass on information to them has led to the creation of "Samparka Sethu", a directory of development journalists in Karnataka, writing in both Kannada and English.

The directory is being brought out by Charkha, a national development communication network in association with the Communication for Development and Learning, a Bangalore-based voluntary agency that provides media services to non-governmental organisations. According to Shobha, Project Assistant, it was found that several NGOs required contact information of journalists located in their area with whom they could build a rapport for advocacy.

While the focus would be on Kannada journalists, those writing in English and based in Karnataka would be included.
