Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the argument that in a democracy, the people's verdict is superior and hence there is no need for Narendra Modi to quit as Chief Minister of Gujarat. A democracy is based on certain basic values. And the elected government of the day has the role of preserving them. When these tenets are sought to be subverted whether in Nazi Germany or in Modi's Gujarat we all need to protest loudly.
Anand Nair,
* * * Sir, Democracy is not just about elections and government formation. The Supreme Court has indicted the Modi dispensation in the harshest words possible for conniving with the perpetrators of the Gujarat carnage. This is sufficient for the Prime Minister to ask Mr. Modi to step down and wait for the final disposal of the cases related to the pogrom.
V. Prasanna Kumar,
