Letters to the Editor
Sir, Ariel Sharon is deliberately sowing the seeds of political hatred in West Asia. His jingoist attitude of defying international pressure for peace and restraint testifies to the support Israel derives from the U.S. The Israeli Prime Minister fails to realise that a day will come when things get dangerously out of control.
S. Rajasekhar,
* * * Sir, Mr. Sharon's ominous warning that he will not hesitate to go back on his promise of not harming the Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, is very unfortunate. Any step in that direction will have serious repercussions on the already volatile West Asia. Despite being the head of an independent nation, Mr. Arafat has been forced to live a life of a captive for more than two years in his Ramallah headquarters. Though the U.S. has told Mr. Sharon to lay off Mr. Arafat, it is not known how genuine the `warning' is.
