NEW DELHI, APRIL 28. Virtually rejecting the Congress' claim that the party along with its allies would get a clear majority in the Lok Sabha elections, the NDA convenor, George Fernandes, said today that the BJP-led coalition would return to power. "I have absolutely no doubt about that. I am sure of the NDA forming the government,'' he told the NDTV a day after Congress asserted that it along with its allies and Left parties would get a clear verdict. Asked whether doors were open for old allies, Mr. Fernandes said: "Our doors are always open. Doors should always be open in politics." PTI
`Central rule in Bihar'
PTI reports from Madhepura, Bihar: "The people of the State are fed up with mis-governance and backwardness of Bihar. If voted to power, the NDA will dismiss the RJD Ministry and impose President's Rule," Mr. Fernandes told an election rally today at Udakishunganj in the Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency of the Union Minister, Sharad Yadav, who is pitted against the RJD supremo, Laloo Prasad Yadav. The State would have been brought under Central rule long ago, but the NDA Government did not do so as it lacked majority in the Rajya Sabha. It was likely to gain a majority in the upper house soon ``and then the long-cherished dream of the people of the State to get rid of the ineffective and incompetent RJD regime will be fulfilled," Mr. Fernandes said. His party colleague, Nitish Kumar, had however said the talk of imposition of President's Rule during electioneering in Bihar was irrelevant as the RJD supremo was trying to gain the sympathy of a particular caste on the issue.
