Institute to offer TV journalism from this year

THE INDIAN Institute of Journalism and New Media (IIJNM) has expanded its curriculum to include Television Journalism in the academic year 2004-05. Scheduled to commence in August, the institute's programme will include one-year diploma training. The institute also runs post-graduate diploma courses in television, print and web journalism.

The TV Journalism programme will help students master the techniques of writing and editing broadcast news material. The students will learn the basics of television reporting skills, how to shoot interviews and news reports and get an insight into the nuances of editing and news presentation techniques, according to the institute's associate dean, Anand Sagar. The students will be involved in regular course work as reporters, camerapersons, writers and producers, using sophisticated TV production equipment and editing software.
