(Un)Sporting coach banned

MUMBAI, APRIL 29. The coach of Haywards Sporting, Clifford Chukwuma, has been banned by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), following the assault on supervising officials by the team's officials and fans at the end of their National Football League match against Mahindra United here on April 25.

The coach, barred from sitting on the team bench as well as from all soccer related activities, has been penalised for ``abusing'' referee Subrata Sarkar during the match, apart from allegedly ``inciting'' Sporting Clube fans, the AIFF said.

The AIFF is in the process of identifying the miscreants with the help of local organiser Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), which is expected to scan the following day's newspapers to single out the culprits. — UNI
