HYDERABAD, APRIL 29. Speakers at a function held to mark the launch of a Telugu eveninger underscored the need for newspapers to have more of news and less of `views,' particularly those of the publication's management. Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, who released the first copies of `Prajatantra' evening daily here on Friday said the mind and body need to work in tandem with the right blend of spiritualism and materialism. He regretted that newspapers tended to sensationalise rather than simply report events. `How to make the news appropriate is something newspapers should think about,' he said. Briefly touching upon the issue of the rituals to be followed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, he said every organisation has its own set of rules and regulations. "They have to be followed without question. That was what I was saying," he said, regretting what he described as `the tendency to provoke people,' rather than be appreciative. The BJP State President, N. Indrasena Reddy, also said people need to differentiate between `views' and `news'. Editor of the daily, D. Amar, recalled that the publication had started in January 1998 as a weekly and then become a daily in the Telangana districts. The Managing Director, D. Ajay, chairman, Jaihind Reddy, and the Karimnagar district Congress President, Sridhar Babu, spoke.
