BHADRAK, APRIL 29. Police arrested a 35-year-old man who caused panic in the Bhadrak railway station in Orissa after killing an RPF constable and taking the guard of an express train hostage today. Shabir Khan, whose whereabouts are yet to be established, had an altercation with the constable at the station and suddenly stabbed him resulting in his death, the Superintendent of Police, Mahendra Pratap, said. He attacked another person before rushing into the guard's cabin of the Howrah-Bhubaneswar Dhauli Express, took the guard hostage, and demanded that the train leave the station. The incident triggered panic in the station with angry passengers disconnecting a hosepipe of the train, even as police, RPF and GRP personnel cordoned off the guard's cabin. Over 5,000 people gathered at the station following the incident. The man surrendered after Mr. Pratap "negotiated" with him. The knife used in the crime was seized. PTI
