Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, APRIL 29. The Pondicherry unit of the Students Federation of India (SFI) today alleged that the Pondicherry University has effected an abnormal increase tuition fee for certain courses and also special fees for students joining new courses in certain departments in the coming year. Addressing presspersons here today, A. Stalin, president, and N. Praburaj, secretary, said the hike was implemented at the instance of the University Grants Commission and consequently higher education has been kept out of reach for middle-income group students. A petition was submitted in the Vice-Chancellor's office on Wednesday registering their protest against the hike, they said. They listed out the various heads under which the special fees have been raised.
