Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, APRIL 29. The All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Pondicherry unit secretary and MLA, A. Anbalagan, has charged the Democratic Progressive Alliance here with violating the model code of conduct on a number of occasions and said the Election Commission's attention would be drawn in this connection. The AIADMK and Bharatiya Janata party would present a petition jointly to the Election Commission shortly. Addressing a joint meeting of workers of the AIADMK and BJP at Tirukanoor, near here, today, Mr. Anbalagan said there was code violation on the part of DPA constituents during the visits of leaders to Pondicherry and outlying regions as could be seen from excess number of vehicles used for electioneering. Distribution of mangoes to voters during the door-to-door campaign by functionaries of the DPA constituents in an Assembly segment is another code violation. Voters were aware of the antecedents of the Pattali Makkal Katchi and the party had no support in Pondicherry, he said. The BJP candidate, Lalitha Kumaramangalam, assured the voters that she would spare no effort to industrially develop Pondicherry.
