CHENNAI, APRIL 29. Students and teachers continue to complain about some of the questions in different subjects in the recently-concluded Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examinations (TNPCEE) held on Saturday and Sunday last. Teachers of SRV Higher Secondary School, Rasipuram, say confusing questions or choice of answers were found in many versions of the question papers. In the Chemistry paper, version code BS6, choice for two of the four answers to question number 77 (on combustion of butane) were right. For Question number 90, none of the alternatives given as answer would apply while question No. 110 was very vague, a teacher claimed. In Mathematics (Version KMT), questions 33, 42, 70 and 90 were wrongly worded or the options given as the answers were wrong. Such questions should not be valued, the teachers said. In the Physics paper, 6SB, questions 71, 80, 97 were confusing or wrongly worded. The Tamil medium version of the same paper contained incorrectly worded questions as far as question numbers 100 and 105 were concerned. Another mathematics teacher from Tirupattur said the paper (Version TKM) had six defective questions. However, some teachers said if the wrong or confusing questions were deleted, then the individual value of each of the remaining answers would go up. In case a student does a mistake in any of these (correct) questions, he or she stands to lose more marks. They hope that the expert committee and the coordination body of the TNPCEE would consider this aspect and evaluate the papers accordingly.
