JAMMU, APRIL 29. In a stepped up pre-poll violence in Jammu and Kashmir, militants in the early hours on Thursday attacked a marriage function in the upper reaches of Udhampur district. Eight people have been injured and the condition of one person is reported to be critical. Police sources told The Hindu that a group of militants swooped in Jansalan village of Udhampur district and threw a grenade on a group of village men participating in a marriage function. The grenade injured eight of them who were rushed to a nearby hospital. One of the injured has been identified as Abdul Hamid whose condition is serious and was taken to the Government Medical College, Jammu. A man hunt was launched in the area. Meanwhile, 15 kgs of RDX was recovered from a militant hideout in upper reaches of Doda district of Jammu province. Recoveries include 1500 rounds of AK ammunition, 225 rounds of Pika ammunition, 11 mortar bombs (60-mm), six mortar fuses (60-mm), 10 mortar cartridges (60-mm), 15 kgs RDX and 14 remote control devices with electronic detonators.
