All-India rugby begins today
BANGALORE,
APRIL 29.
The Castle and Lager All-India rugby sevens competition will begin at Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Friday.
Twenty teams, divided into four pools, will take part in the event. The best team from each pool will vie for top honours, while the second best from each group will compete for the plate shield. The third-placed teams will clash for the bowl challenge. Sri Lankan Airlines is the only foreign team in the fray.
The teams: Sri Lankan Airlines, Indian Army, Orissa Rugby FC, Delhi Cobra, Delhi Lions, Young Rugby Club, Calcutta Cricket and Football Club, Future Hopes, Kolkata Police, Bombay Barbarians, Bombay Gymkhana Club, Greater Bombay Police, Maharashtra State Police, Tamil Nadu Police, Chennai Cheetahs, Chennai Irish, Kerala Rugby Football Club, Bangalore Football Club, Bangalore Hoysala and Hindustan Old Boys Rugby Club.
