GODDA (JHARKHAND), APRIL 30. The Congress Legislature Party leader, Furkan Ansari, who was arrested yesterday under the Arms Act, was sent to jail today. Police said it had filed an FIR under various sections, including Arms Act, against Mr. Ansari. Five others have been lodged in the jail along with Mr. Ansari while the seventh accused, JMM legislator Prasant Mandal, is at large. His name also figured in the FIR. Backed by the JMM, RJD and Left parties, Mr. Ansari had contested against BJP's sitting MP, Pradeep Yadav, for the Godda Lok Sabha seat on April 26. The Inspector-General of Police, Kumud Chaudhury, yesterday said that the police found three guns and 35 rounds of bullets from a vehicle allegedly belonging to the supporters of Mr. Ansari, who was also present there. They had also indulged in road blockade, the police officials said. -- PTI
