Kale gets Ganguly's vote of confidence

NEW DELHI, MAY 1. Beleaguered Abhijit Kale has received morale-boosting support from national captain Sourav Ganguly who said he did not believe that the first-class batsman could have offered bribe to selectors.

``I find it difficult to believe that Abhijit Kale offered bribe to the selection committee. I have known him for a very long time and he is not the sort of person who will offer a bribe to anyone,'' Ganguly told the Aaj Tak news channel in `Seedhi Baat' programme to be telecast on Sunday.

Kale was summoned for hearing in Kolkata by the Cricket Board's disciplinary committee on Thursday.

Ganguly also said that matters of team selection should rest with the captain and was happy that the selectors had stood by him and supported his decisions. ``The support I have enjoyed from the selection committee is very encouraging and enjoyable,'' he said.

The skipper credited the recent victories in Pakistan to team effort. — PTI
