Rain likely in coastal T.N.

CHENNAI, MAY 1. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and interior Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep, Telangana and coastal Karnataka.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Paderu (Visakhapatnam dt.) 3, Sankarankoil (Tirunelveli dt.), Kozhikode, Kannur, Punalur, Belgaum Airport, Madikeri, Bhalki (Bidar dt.) and Bidar 2 each and Adiramapatnam, Sivakasi (Virudhunagar dt.) and Tuticorin 1 each.

On Friday, the maximum temperature fell appreciably at one or two places over south interior Karnataka, fell at one or two places over south Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka and changed a little elsewhere over the region.

They were appreciably above normal at one or two places over south coastal Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka, north interior Karnataka, south Kerala, above normal at a few places over rest coastal Karnataka, rest south coastal Tamil Nadu, below normal at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, south interior Karnataka and were generally normal over rest of the region.

FORECAST (Valid until Monday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over coastal Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over interior Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Farmers weather bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry: Forecast (valid until the morning of 3rd May 2004): Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts and Pondicherry. Isolated light to moderate rain is likely to occur over rest Tamil Nadu.
