Pondicherry

PONDICHERRY, MAY 1. The Pondicherry State Freedom Fighters Federation has criticised the Rangasamy Government for not taking steps for the welfare of freedom fighters. In a release here, its president, M. Periasamy, said that though the Chief Minister and the Pradesh Congress Committee president, V. Narayanasamy, gave promises prior to 2001 Assembly poll that the party would come out with schemes for freedom fighters, nothing had been done so far. Several rallies and protest meetings held by the association failed to get any response from the government.
