PALAKKAD, MAY 1. The Lead Bank in the District, Canara Bank, has taken up the distribution of drinking water to the people of Kannimari, Chamiarkalam and Kambalathara areas of Perumatty panchayat, which are facing acute drinking water shortage. The Bank has taken up the water supply scheme under its Social Action Cell and as part of the activities of the Rural Service Volunteer attached to its Meenakshipuram branch. The Chittur taluk tehsildar, T.G. Ashokan, inaugurated the programme. Those who spoke at the function include the Assistant General Manager, K. Mohanachandran, and the Lead District Manager, K.N. Surendran, among others.
