Lara invites England to bat

ST. LUCIA, MAY 1. West Indies captain Brian Lara won the toss on Saturday and sent England to bat in the fifth one-day cricket international at the Beausejour Stadium.

England leads the seven-match series 1-0 following its narrow two-wicket win in the opening match in Guyana almost two weeks ago.

The home team will debut 29-year-old left-handed all-rounder Ian Bradshaw at the expense of Corey Collymore, also from Barbados.

The third and fourth matches of the series were rained out, but sunshine greeted the players on Saturday, and there was the prospect of a full 50-overs-per-side match.

The teams:

West Indies: Brian Lara (captain), Chris Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ricardo Powell, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Dwayne Smith, Ridley Jacobs, Dwayne Bravo, Mervyn Dillon, Ravi Rampaul, Ian Bradshaw.

England: Michael Vaughan (captain), Marcus Trescothick, Andrew Strauss, Andrew Flintoff, Paul Collingwood, Ian Blackwell, Rikki Clarke, Chris Read, Darren Gough, Steve Harmison, James Anderson. — AP
