Arjun Sarja in lead

BANGALORE, MAY 1. Arjun Sarja of Shimoga took the lead after the fourth round in the State sub-junior chess tournament at the State Youth Centre.

Arjun, who has a FIDE rating of 1951, defeated Prajwal D'Silva of Mangalore to notch up his fourth victory.

M. Suraj of Bangalore and Vishwas Saralaya of Udupi played out a draw on the top board to be half a point each behind the leader.

The results:

Boys: M. Suraj (3.5) drew with Vishwas Saralaya (3.5); Arjun Sarja (4) bt Prawjal D'Silva (3); Sunil Shetty (3.5) drew with Akash Das Sarma (3); S. Vikram (3) drew with T.C. Suhas (3); P.S. Sachin (2.5) drew with M.G. Gahan (2.5); Sathwik (2) lost to Vinayak Kulkarni (3); G.A. Stany (3) bt S. Pradyumna (3); M. Vigram (2.5) drew with Kishan Gangoli (2.5); P.K. Mandanna (2) lost to Bal Kishan (3); Deepak Vinod (2) lost to Anil Shetty (3).

Girls: Lora M. Pinto (2) lost to Pallavi Mayya (3); S. Sowmya (2) lost to Priyanka (3); Prathika (2.5) bt N. Swathi (2); Pavithra Jagtap (2) drew with Irol Pinto (2); Shrusthi Shetty (1) lost to Sowmyashree (2.5).
