NIZAMABAD, MAY 1. In a major relief for tomato growers, the district administration has directed the Markfed to purchase the available tomatoes in the district immediately at the rate of Rs. 1.50 per kg. A decision was taken on Saturday at a meeting convened by the Joint Collector, G. Venkatram Reddy, with officials of the Agriculture Department, the agriculture market committee secretary and representatives of the All-India Kisan Mazdoor Sangh and tomato growers here. Tomato-growers had staged a dharna yesterday at the Collectorate demanding procurement by Markfed.
