NALGONDA, MAY 1. A ctivists of the Communist parties and trade unions on Saturday celebrated May Day. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) central Committee leader, Mallu Venkata Narasimha Reddy, unfurled the red flag at the party district headquarters and said May Day always inspired the working class. The CITU and AITUC activists decked up workplaces with red flags and banners and the leaders hoisted red flags. The District Congress Committee president, Mallesham Goud and the Zilla Parishad chairperson, Keeta Laxmamma, distributed fruits to inmates of the district jail to mark the occasion. The Collector, R.P.Sisodia, presided over a meeting on eradication of child labour at the town hall. KARIMNAGAR: May Day was celebrated in the coal belt of Godavarikhani region and others parts of the district on Saturday. All trade unions of the Singareni colliries celebrated the day by hoisting flags at the mines and at trade offices. The CITU, IFTU, AITUC and other unions participated. In Karimnagar town, the town diesel auto owners and drivers association celebrated the day near the one-town police station. The former APCC media cell coordinator, Ponnam Prabhakar, hoisted the party flag. ADILABAD: May Day was observed in the town in a big way by left trade unions that organised public meetings at important intersections and labour colonies. The Centre for Indian Trade Unions organised meetings at Durganagar, Ranadivenagar, Jaijawannagar, Ganeshnagar, Sundarayyanagar labour areas and at the RTC bus depot and Sundarayya Bhavan and near Anand Bhavan. The CPI (M) district general secretary, Lanka Raghavulu, and the Rythu Sangham district general secretary, Bandi Dattatri, attended.
