DINDIGUL, MAY 1. The Collector, P. Senthil Kumar, today said that demonstration on electronic voting machines was conducted in 445 villages in the district so far. In a release here, he said elaborate arrangements were made to organise demonstrations of use of electronic voting machines in villages to create an awareness among rural people, as the Election Commission had decided to use electronic voting machines in all polling stations in the district for the May 10 Lok Sabha elections. Officials from Revenue and Public Relations department had covered almost all villages in Dindigul, Athoor, Nilakottai, Vedasanthur and Natham Assembly segments in Dindigul and Palani constituencies. Hundreds of rural people were trained in use of EVMs and their doubts were also cleared by the officials. Such training would be extended to urban areas also. To begin with, electronic voting machine demonstration would be conducted in Dindigul municipal areas from May 5 to May 8, Dr. Senthil Kumar said.
