Weather

Gannavaram Airport recorded a maximum temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.1 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Humidity which was recorded 72 per cent in the morning dropped to 44 per cent in the evening.

Bal Bhavan summer camps

The Bal Bhavan in Vijayawada is organising summer coaching camps in a variety arts, crafts and other skills from Monday. Children in the five to 16 age group are eligible for joining the courses. Classes will be conducted from 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Coaching will be given in tailoring, making clothes for small children, embroidery, crochet, knitting woollen goods, Kashmiri style embroidery, dyeing, fabric painting, pottery painting and glass painting, greeting-card making and thermocol carving. Children interested in fine arts will be taught to sing Annamacharya and Ramadas Keerthans, patriotic, folk and popular songs, along with Veena, Classical Music, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and folk dancing. A fee of Rs 12 will be collected for each course.

Nominated

Taranikanti Srinivas has been nominated as the Assistant General Secretary of Railway Mazdoor Union of the Vijayawada division. The union general secretary, G.V.Ramanaiah, has informed Mr. Srinivas of his nomination. The union authorised Mr. Srinivas to sign letters on behalf of the general secretary and form the Guntur division by enrolling members.

Deaths condoled

The Telugu Desam Party candidate for the Vijayawada Lok Sabha, Ch. Aswani Dutt, has expressed condolences to the relatives of Krishna district farm workers who were killed in a road accident near Kodad. He wished speedy recovery of those injured.
