Municipal schools excel in SSC exam

GUNTUR, MAY 1. The eight municipal schools in Guntur achieved 83 per cent results with only two out of the 59 students in Kothapeta school failing in the SSC examination this year.

The Mayor, Chukka Yesuratnam, told reporters on Saturday that the pass percentage in the Sanjeevaiah Nagar School was close to zero till 2001, but in 2004 it has gone up to 92 per cent. Out of the 557 students who had appeared for the examination, 289 got first class; 125 passed in second division while only 49 students secured third division.

S. K. Mubbena Sultana, a student of the R. Agraharam High School was the topper among the municipal school students securing 553 marks out of 600. Meanwhile, 134 students of Vikas Educational Institutions at Guntur secured more than 500 marks out of 600 with 98.4 per cent students being successful at the public examination. R.N.V. Sudhir Kumar with 572 marks was the school topper. The two Vignan Schools in Guntur recorded a 99 per cent pass percentage while Sai Prasanna of its Lakshmipuram school securing 577 marks topped both the schools.
