KANCHEEPURAM, MAY 1. The Mamallapuram police yesterday arrested a person who allegedly tried to encash a missing travellers cheque at Indian Overseas Bank, Mamallapuram. According to the police, Jayaprakash of West Mambalam, Chennai, produced an American Express Travellers cheque, yesterday at the IOB, which had been reported missing from the American Express Bank, Mumbai Branch, in September 2000. On suspicion, the IOB branch manager, Sowrirajan, cross checked with the AEB, Mumbai branch, and after confirming that the travellers cheque was the missed one, he lodged a complaint with the Mamallapuram police who later arrested Jayaprakash.
