Cell operators raise charges
NEW DELHI,
MAY 1.
Private cellular companies in the country today raised charges for long-distance domestic calls by Rs. 1.50 a minute for post-paid services.
However, international charges have not been touched. They have also spared pre-paid customers from the tariff revision.
The State-owned MTNL and BSNL have not effected any price rise.
Industry sources told UNI that the inter-circle calls within 200 km. on mobile-to-mobile were now being charged at Rs. 3.49 a minute against Rs. 1.99 earlier. New charges for calls beyond that stand between Rs. 2.99 and Rs. 4.49 a minute.
Intra-circle calls within 200 km from mobile to basic lines are now being charged at Rs. 4.49 against Rs. 2.99 a minute. Within 200 km to 500 km, the new rate is Rs. 5.49 a minute against Rs. 3.99.
Beyond 500 km, calls are now being charged at Rs. 6.49 per minute against Rs. 4.99.
